Subtract 180lbs for me in the driver’s seat for 4080lbs.

Since I drive past a couple of truck stops at least twice a day, I finally decided to stop and see what the new truck actually weighs. It looked hilariously small on the scale.

Damn, that’s a good 1800lbs lighter than my F150 weighed last week.

Wow, that’s really front heavy!

Haha, I only got a gross weight for my truck, too. I should have parked over both pads at the same time. Oh well. Hey, speaking of my truck... it came to 4400 lbs, and that’s for a 1995 Sierra, (reg cab long bed, 350, A/T, 2WD) empty but with a full tank of gas.

I’ve always wanted to use a truck stop scale, but never have.

I park literally 15 feet from a truck scale at work, but have never bothered to use it.

It cost $11. At this one at least, you drive onto the scale and push the button. The folks inside the come on the intercom and tell you the weight has been captured and to come inside. It was a bit annoying that their system makes them capture your information (and pay) before it gives them the actual weight. I would’ve been okay with them just telling me what it was. I didn’t need a certified print out.

I usually weigh my vehicles when their on the alignment rack, but it may be awhile before the new truck visits one.

It is by far the lightest tow vehicle I’ve owned. Better living through aluminum, I guess.

I heard stories of one near me that had a digital readout inside the booth, so people would go to it when it was closed and just read the weight through the window. For free.

I specifically sought out the lightest, smallest, most fuel efficient and best handling configuration of truck that would tow the racecar and boat well and serve as a daily driver. I got along just fine with both a miata and corvette as daily drivers, and so far a truck without a backseat works fine too. My requirements were an F-150, 2wd, regular cab, short bed, sport package, 2.7l ecoboost, short gears, tow package and the backup camera. There were three trucks on dealer lots West of the Mississippi meeting my criteria when I bought it.

There was a truck stop in Albuquerque that used to worked like that, and it was awesome. This one has no outside display at all. There was only a button and an intercom speaker. It was all controlled through a dedicated computer terminal and printer behind the counter.

That F150 is lighter than the Taurus.

oh nice, what sort of boat are you towing with it? How have you liked towing with the 2.7?

We’ve got a 1995 Larson 220 escapade (7.4l mercruiser and a bravo 3 drive). I’ve only done a little bit of light towing with it so far, but that engine is a beast. I once owned an F-250 with a 7.3l powerstroke that only produced 50ft/lbs more torque than this 2.7l does. The torque curve is so flat on the 2.7l, that it feels not unlike towing with a diesel. Starting from a dead stop with a trailer is that only time I’ve been able to actually perceive any real turbo lag from the engine. Those little turbos spool up mighty quick, overall.

That’s remarkably light. My land cruiser is coming in around 5300-5500 lbs.

It’s actually kind of impressive because I really want a later Volvo S80 T6.

It weighs.... 4,016 lbs! For a sedan!
